May is always an interesting month. We celebrate International Labour Day, and for those who enjoy a good movie reference, there’s always Star Wars Day on May the Fourth.
It’s also the time when Europe finally shakes off the winter chill, and the weather gets warm enough to enjoy the outdoors.
Despite the holidays and the tempting weather, the Wide Angle team has been hard at work, making improvements to both the visible and behind-the-scenes parts of our product.
New Design
In April, we rolled out the first redesign of our marketing website and application. The response to the new color scheme has been overwhelmingly positive.
A Little Confession
The previous pink-centered color scheme, while bold and in line with our vision of breaking away from the big and often clunky Google Analytics, was a bit too much for some. It turns out, you can be too bold.
What’s Next – More Good Stuff
But April was just the beginning. We’ve introduced a new color scheme across the application, which has allowed us to focus on improving the website design and migrating to WordPress as the engine for our front-end experience.
We’re big fans of Vue and Nuxt, and we’ll continue to use them for the application side. But for the landing and marketing website, WordPress brings a lot of benefits.
As the founder and tech lead at Wide Angle, I’m really excited about this change. It might seem small, but it’s going to have a big impact on our business moving forward.
For the past few months, we’ve been working with the marketing agency Rocket SaaS. We’re looking forward to leveraging their expertise to make Wide Angle a more recognizable brand in the digital marketing space.
With Rocket SaaS handling the marketing, our core team can focus on what we do best: developing the product and improving its features and reliability.
Roadmap for 2025 and Beyond
We’ve got a growing list of exciting features planned. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming up:
- Retroactive Tags – Tag past events based on predefined filters.
- Marketing Funnels – These will become a core part of the product, and unlike our competitors, they’ll be included at no extra charge.
- Major UI Improvements – Saved and shared filters to create collaborative dashboards.
- SEO and GEO Tracking – In the long run, we want to make tools like Ahrefs and Semrush a thing of the past. It’s a big goal, but it’s one that we’re really excited about.
And finally …
This is a big step for Wide Angle. We’re grateful for the support and trust our existing customers have shown us, and we’re looking forward to serving them and many more with a web analytics tool that’s reliable, respects privacy, and packs a punch.
