Create and Name Your New Site
If you just logged in, and you haven't created any site yet, you will be presented with a short prompt to do so.
Alternatively, you can always navigate to Sites in the top menu and on the screen locate the Create New Site button.
Site Name
A Site Name is an internal label. This name will appear on your dashboard and will reference your specific site across various panels.
We recommend using a friendly, descriptive name. For example:
- Landing Page
- Seasonal Microsite
- Corporate Blog
Site URL
A URL is where your site resides. Wide Angle does treat this quite literally, and each subdomain is a separate site. The same applies to different top-level path.
It is best explained with an example
Site URL | Visited URL | Tracked |
---|---|---|
example.org |
example.org/blog |
✔️ |
example.org |
example.org/index.php?p=123 |
✔️ |
example.org |
misc.example.org |
❌ |
example.org/blog |
example.org/contact |
❌ |
misc.example.org |
example.org |
❌ |
The site's protocol (whether it is HTTP or HTTPS) is not relevant, meaning http://example.org
and https://example.org
are treated as the same URL.
Tracker Domain
In this section, you can choose how you will reference the Wide Angle Analytics script when embedding it on your Internet property. The tracker domain defines the base URL where the tracking script resides. You are welcome to use our tracking domain, that is stats.wideangle.co However, For reasons mentioned in the Custom Domain section, you might want to use your own. If you previously created a Custom Domain, it will be visible in the dropdown menu. Please note, that this will include both inactive, and unverified domains. You can always change the domain later.
Next steps
Once the site is created, it will remain INACTIVE until you are ready. This gives you a chance to verify your domain and integrate Wide Angle Analytics with your site.
